Natalie’s Estate Winery was founded in 1999, by owners Boyd and Cassandra Teegarden. The estate vineyard and winery sit in the Chehalem Mountains AVA between 320 to 420 feet in elevation on Willakenzie (sedimentary) soil. The vineyard is planted to Pinot Noir with 4.5 acres of Wadensville, Pommard, Dijon 113 and 114 clones.
Natalie’s Estate Winery is dedicated to handcrafting small batches of premium wines using European varieties from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. They also employ traditional winemaking techniques such as the use of neutral barrels and no fining or filtering of the final product. Boyd and Cassandra are involved in every step from the grape growing to hosting intimate and engaging tastings at their estate winery.
And that leads us to one of the most important points about this member winery, relationships. Boyd and Cassandra love wine. They love to grow grapes and make wine, but the real meaning comes from sharing the results with family and friends – and guests that leave as friends. Terroir isn’t just about the climate, weather, aspect, elevation, soils, and location, it’s also about the culture and individuals involved at every step of the craft.
Tastings are by appointment, so make sure to set yours. And as a fun aside, ask about the Hollywood room – where you might even have the chance to sip where Lucille Ball, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. raised their glasses!
